Second Roll, First Love: Tokyo Through Kodak Gold 200

After shooting my first roll of 120 in Tokyo, guess what? It was time for the second one, because that’s what we do in film photography.

It was time to drive that Kodak Gold 200! This was my second dance with a new camera, that sweet spot where muscle memory starts to form but every shot still feels like a small act of faith.

Tokyo and Kodak Gold 200 are a match made in analog heaven. With only 10 exposures on the 6x7, every click becomes precious. No spray-and-pray digital shooting here. Each composition had to earn its place on the roll. It forces you to slow down, to really consider what deserves to be remembered.

This first shot was taken from a platform that crosses this road, where I saw a little house and camped for something interesting to appear.

That’s when finally an Amazon delivery person, along with a woman on a bike, crossed the street. Not bad! But I felt that this moment could be better, so I waited 5 minutes more.

This is the beauty of going out to photograph, I love the time when you just wait for the moment to come, the photo to arrive. During that small time-space vortex, I become an observer, I camp, I wait, I get familiar with the patterns that surround me, when suddenly, this happens…
